Post by: david995 on October 31, 2015, 07:02:38 PM
Anyone had issues with the ultimate coil crackling ? i have one on my explorer se and its been fine and now started to act up , got the explorer in the house near the fire to dry it out in case some water ingress in the explorer , and have swopped coils to see tomorrow whether its machine or coil .

By the fire isn't a good idea really David, too much plastic. Have you taken the coil cover off, give coil & cover a good wash. Check connection points, into control box & into coil.  Also if coil to stem is a bit loose it might 'false' at the top of your swing.
Are you sure the crackling isn't being caused by your settings or overhead power lines.

Good luck for tommorrow.

Hi val , i did nt mean close enough to the fire to melt anything and yes tightened both ends ,no not power lines and my setting never change now and i dont use a coil cover there not worth all the cleaning and a little extra weight just by another coil if i wear it out

i just googled it and came across an old post by chef describing the fix for this problem on the etrac
