Old welly boot !!

Hi,as I've not been out detecting recently for family commitments..etc I decided to make a spade cover for the end of a dig dirty spade.
Firstly I found an old Wellington boot,i firstly made sure that the spade would sit inside the boot, made a mark to indicate the depth needed, got the scissors and cut off to length.
Next,i cut down about two+half inches and cut off excess rubber from each side.i then bonded the bottom of the sleeve I put on some clamps and left overnight to cure.
The following day remove the clamps, ensuring that it was now well and truly stuck.i then stuck the sides i had previously cut, again letting the adhesive dry, again overnight.
Next day I put on a couple of straps (you could use Velcro).
Finally,i gave it a coup of coats of rubberised paint..and hey presto,no more putting a muddy spade in the boot of your car.
Well, its surprising what you can find to do when your bored... LOL..😁
Thanks for looking..👍

Good idea, well carried out Chris.  Now you've got to find some more old wellies and make something similar for your muddy boots  ;D

Good thinking Chris; my border spade came with a flimsy plastic cover, that soon disintegrated with use. Now where did I put those old wellies?  ;D
