Yes we both bouhgt out detectors.   Theres a sandy beach a few miles down at Rottingdean.  Its not a Crown Estate beach tho, so I dont know if we are allowed on there.

i've seen many detectorists on the brighton sea front, scraping away the pebbles .. or failing that - contact detecniks and see if they know about the beach and if its ok to detect on, tho with the poor weather, i don't think anyone will be around to check you out on the beach!

I was on Brighton beach in the summer. Saw people detecting. They were more commited than me. The pebbles put me off. I detected Eastbourne beach on the shingle areas. There have been staters found b the pier and there is a Roman Villa buried under a seafront hotel near the pier as well.

Thanks for the info - I'm gonna try the small beach at Rottingdean (weather permitting).  The town has a pre-conquest/Norman church not far from the beach.

The amount of wealthy people who live in the marina is crazy, its like a different worlds down here.  Had a drink bought for me earlier by Nigel Bens ex-wife earlier in the local  Cool
