Few hours out last night a few decimal coins and a really wierd design silver ring just wondered if any body knows what it's is or is it just a modern ring :D

The pattern is ogham (goidelic writing) the bit I can see looks like the letters C and R, are there any marks on the inside to give an idea of age? You can still buy rings with it on but you never know. If you can photograph the whole pattern I'll see if I can get it translated ;)

I had a look Geoff and they spell ( edhmoqicc ) what ever that might arrange to be or stand for

Interesting ??? the problem comes by not knowing which way around it was written and also which letter is the beginning but either way it includes a Z or a Q neither of which are included in the modern Irish alphabet.
I find it hard to believe it could be an ancient Hiberno/Norse ring but stranger things have turned up and your in the right part of the world and the script is quite rustic looking, I would say the FLO or local museum would be the best place to get it seen just in case as they will be able to contact the few ogham experts in existence ;)

Oh well forget that idea :-\ Just asked the better half (gaelic speaker) and she says it means "A Blessing on the Soul" and is a common message on modern wedding rings :'(
