Morning, folks. Pretty cold here right now but at least it's dry Smiley

Can't speak for all Minelabs but I've taken my X-Terra to three beaches - Rhyl, Prestayn and Talacre and I'd honestly have been better with divining rods . . . I've never had any trouble with it finding coke (unlike the Maplin one) but it did give me a bit of a run-around at Talacre. It was giving a reading in the 20s (on the dry sand) so I started digging. Couldn't find anything but the target kept shifting . . . In the end I discovered it was a bit of reed which had been burned and the carbonised end was showing on the detector.

That's why I'm busy building a couple of PI machines for me and my friend. It got to where it was a bit of an obsession so I shelved it for a while and concentrated on something else for a couple of weeks - I'm all done with that now so I'll re-start the PIs again soon. I know that I'll end up digging everything with a PI but at least it won't be falsing due to the wet sand. Probably give Talacre a miss though, as it seems so trashy.

The Whites Spectrum and its descendants seem to have a bit of a cult following - must be a reason other than nostalgia?

Yes all single frequency machines with false on wet sand to some extent that's why the Minelab BBS and FBS are the favoured type, when the Sovereign was released back in 92 it very much killed off the use Pi machines in the UK Wink
