On my last hunt I found this big hook type thing,looks old but not sure how old.keep finding pottery and a chunks of lead

Hi Andrea,very interesting pottery find,I've found similar shards and had them certified as medieval/late Roman,and it's a possibility that your metal finds are of about the same time scale...Very interesting finds,...Well detected...And thanks for posting...👍...🎅

Pottery probably medieval - looks glazed in your picture which did not exist in Roman times. The iron hook probably Victorian at the earliest and farming-related.

Thanks dingdong for correcting my blanket statement that glazed pottery did not exist in Roman times.

It was rare generally and apparently unknown in England, but was produced in Wales at Holt near Wrexham and at Caerleon during the Roman period. A very interesting article here:

Looking at the thickness and shape of that piece id say its a fragment of a 6inch salt glazed drainage pipe.
