Hi folks,
2 items given to me by my brother when he saw I had taken up detecting.
Our father dug them from his allotment over 30 years ago.
The bracelet has shell like attachments and is of a non magnetic hard metal.
The second item is a much softer also non magnetic metal. With an attachment
Ring on the rear.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum artkat. Been looking at your items. The first one reminds me of Indian jewellery. I've got a pick somewhere, I'll see if I can find it and post for comparison.
The second one, side view, looks like a button.  Both look like very dirty silver.
Nice finds. Amazing what come up with the spuds  Grin

Hi Val, thanks for the info.
The button/brooch seems to be a soft metal.
Any advice on how to tell what metal it might be.
The allottment is now a car park !!!.
If only I'd discovered detecting 30 years ago and not last christmas. Still better late than never.

Sorry for delay in answering (visitors  Angry )  Have attached a piccie of the Indian necklace I have for comparison, note the little danglers on the ends.
I only know a quick test for silver. Take some kitchen foil, place item on it, spit on it (as much as you can muster) wrap tightly and press foil against it with firm pressure.  Leave for a few minuets and unwrap. If it stinks of rotten eggs it's silver.
Fingers crossed  Wink

Thanks again Val.
Tried the "spit" test,  no obvious egg smell.
Tried it on silver ring, got eggy smell so my technique was probably right. The danglers certainly look similar to your photo, little shells.
I have attached a new photo that hopefully shows a littlt more detail.

Managed to get a better pic of the brooch/button.
Again, tried spit and foil test,  not silver,

They really are lovely finds. Maybe you should find that allotment.
Easy to see on better pics. Don't look so silvery but wouldn't like to say what metal or age.
Interestingly one of me best finds was in the back garden, years ago.
Let's hope you have some similar finds.
