Nice finds there! Seems a strange and difficult thing to do to cut down a profile off a coin, I suppose the obvious reason would be for jewellery, it would be ideal to make an impression for an intaglio or something similar. Anyway whatever it is it has turned what was a coin into a very interesting artefact, well saved John.

the cut down denari is faustina senior  roman defied ad 141  some body skillfull cut it to this profile , as you said to fit into ring,  maybe, anyway maybe mark can solve it regards john
