Title: Barry Island
Post by: Steve Morris on February 01, 2011, 10:32:38 AM
Hi All,

I am taking my family down to Barry for a couple of days, I will be taking the etrac and hopefully do some detecting on the beach, any info regarding detecting Barry beaches would be most welcome.

Thanks

Steve

a) It's sandy

b) This time of the year it's cold. Don't expect to do much sunbathing.

c) The sea is tidal

d) It'll probably rain. Take an umbrella

e) Gavin & Stacy was filmed there!  ;D

Barry Island is a beach of plus and minus...

Its a great beach a lot cleaner now than it used to be...

Its a ring pull tab magnet on the wet sand loads of the damn things but in among the rubbish there are still good finds to be had right down to Victoriana.

I have had some good rings off this beach...

The finds are not so plentiful as they used to be and the only way to find such items
is to grid an area that takes your fancy...many finds are very deep and if there is loads of sand been moved down towards the low tide mark you will have your work cut out...
I use the Explorer II with an SEF Coil and it works very well, you should do just as
well with your E Track...No particular area of the beach is better than any other
its just a case of picking a spot and grid an area and you will surely find what your looking for....good luck and happy hunting PaulB. 8)
