Title: the junk box thread
Post by: handyman [Alan} on June 12, 2011, 03:27:20 PM
Ok, its a very wet sunday and we've had almost 9 hours of non stop rain on the 1st day after they declared us to be in a drought zone!

So being bored, i thought i'd take some pics of my junk box[es]  and share them with you.

Anyone else wanna share???

Wonderful stuff, keep them coming guys n gals.

Well done Val on showing us the way on how to decorate the interior of ones home with junk ornaments.

[I also notice Neil has at least 3 cow horn protectors in his 'junk' -- doesn't anyone collect them?]

Very good Alan! :)

I am strictly a Petrol Can collector.

If theres a collector of the fabled "cow horn protectors" out there - feel free to have them. I seem to find them and pidgeon rings nearly every trip!

Amazing what some of us call junk.  ::)

How about this for an ornament Alan. It's another eyes only find and has been sitting on my window sill for ages. I love it. ;D I think it's a young Oryx foot print, or something similar.

My junk box has overflowed into the garden, but this is the stuff I am allowed to keep indoors.

None of them have any metal in them Taff!

Most of these were in fields I walked over in Kent when on holiday. The largest one is a broken spear point I think.

I think Taff meant did you find them. The big question now is how did they get to Kent as at least 7 of them are native American Indian dovetail arrowheads. Very strange :o

No, the north american arrow heads are, as chef pointed out not native to here. I bought those in a market in Kent, near Deal. I got them because I was fascinated with the material they were made of. They were advertised as genuine stone age, but they are made of rock and quartz instead of flint.

They got me interested in collecting the big lumps of flint that were laying around in the fields around the holiday camp. Thats when I found the real arrowheads when I wandered into a bit of a field that was covered in small bits of flint, and the arrowheads were around them. I spent the better part of a week wandering in that field.
