Title: Roman Brooches Post by: celticspikey on February 23, 2019, 10:48:11 AM Hi guys and girls. I've not contributed of late, been busy. Any way the NOX is still pulling out some nice artefacts so I felt only fair to share with you. The bronze Buckle with decorated pin came up at a stupid depth these date from c1250-1450 approx. The early Roman brooch came from pasture, as did the buckle, (Roman 1st cent). The enamelled Headstud brooch with pin is a cracker given it came from ploughed land. 2nd cent AD.....Spikey

Tempted to by one or the other... All I do is fields, pasture, ploughed fields, farmland,no beach. Title: Re: Roman Brooches Post by: Andre on February 24, 2019, 09:21:51 AM The brooches are exquisite, you must have really good permissions,Wales?

Complete with pins, again ;D Thanks Val, always nice to still have pins, that way your pretty sure they were lost as opposed to deliberately broken ie votive We can but hope ::) Title: Re: Roman Brooches Post by: celticspikey on February 24, 2019, 11:57:35 AM Spectacular finds as usual, what do you prefer,Nox or Deus, and why? Tough call Andre. Deus or Nox, I've had the Deus for years and many quality finds has fell to it's power particularly on arable, however the Box in my opinion is superior on pasture in and around iron and depth. Tempted to by one or the other... All I do is fields, pasture, ploughed fields, farmland,no beach.
