Hi Guys,

Had a call from Merriman88 today as he and his father weren't going fishing due to the weather.  Had about 2 hours out on a local friends farm and I'm glad I did Smiley  I finally broke my Roman Silver duck !  Probably not the best quality coin, but I dont care  Wink  In fact after doing this for around 12 years this is the first identifiable Roman I've managed to find...

Think it's Vespasian, AD 69 to AD 79, but hell, I dont know, any ID please ?  Who's the gal on the flip side ?

Oh yeah, and found an old spindle whorl, looks an old one, can anyone offer a date for it ?  - lots of lead in this field, so hopefully a good sign...

Will try my best Geoff, there's a lovely big flat field behind the one where I found this one, on top of a bit of a rise, so looks promising hunting, also all been ploughed in the past, so stands a chance Smiley  Any more info on the coin m8 ?  Have I got the years right ?

Thanks for the positive encouragement guys Smiley  I'll certainly be going back there again LOL Smiley  Just got to clear all that lead out of the way, then will try a few different machines/coil combinations over it to see if we can winkle anything else out a bit deeper... 

Wow thats a great site Val  Shocked  I've narrowed it down to http://wildwinds.com/coins/sear/s0779.html I think, looking at the position of the V in Vespa and the shape of the seat having gaps in the legs as far as I can tell Smiley

Will be in touch Pip & Nomad for that day out, am looking forward to it mate, now I've lost my Roman cherry I'll be looking for some more  Grin
