first day of permission

Well managed to pluck up the courage to ask a farmer for permission to detect on his land and to my surprise he said yes and this is what I found today plenty of cans, bits of junk and bits of farm apparatus and some nails. Should I be excited about the nails or are they just regular nails. Even the bigger one?  Thanks

of advice that I can give you on your finds is,
Don't bite your nails, filthy habit

I must admit to winging all the nails I find, unless they are hob nails (and I find enough of them).

dont find many nails but loads of horseshoes  Dont be afraid to ask for permission I get most of my sites

   by a phone call after studying maps and  looking on the maps for most of my sites
and have over a ninty five per cent yes..when phoning

Yes before I left I went back to the farmer to show him 1 or 2 of my finds and he seemed to recognise that they were farming pieces and said when I return just call in to let him know I'm on his fields. Nice bloke

Nice assortment of finds, and you enjoyed the day that,s a bonus.
The farmers wife on our permission site has taken to my eight year old son, she loves to see the youngsters getting interest in the countryside and of course our hobby.
Still waiting for my cuppa though lol
