I did a little research on the penny, and im sure its a Edward IV penny, pellets by neck, from the Dublin mint. Title: Re: Yesterdays double hammie Post by: Chef Geoff on February 17, 2014, 05:04:56 PM I know you won't believe this but I thought Eddy4 just by the style of the portrait :-\
OK that brooch grrrrrrrrr......To be totally honest I'm not happy putting it into any "type" category, it has a few oddities that make it a little weird but Hattatt 438B is where I would slot it on the fashion timeline and so around 130 AD ;) Title: Re: Yesterdays double hammie Post by: diggaduff on February 17, 2014, 05:15:18 PM Fantastic finds well done :) those are certainly on peoples wish list :)

The Doc will tell us we are wrong now :D have a shot at the unit ;) I need a reference book really if im to start collecting the celtic ;) Thanks for the id on the brooch its a early ish one then, its a shame the coins are so far gone it would of been nice to date them... im expecting the Romans to have been near this site earlier tho, as there is a iron age hill fort in the woods, nothing of that era is ever found tho on the farm land around.
