got my second roman on weekend,woohoo.myself and steve have aquired some great land near cirencester thanks to a very kind farmer ,and our research shows a lot af roman occupation very close by.hopefully a lot more to come.i would be gratefull for an ID.ive only got spink and the closest i can find is 467,it looks like vesta seated but facing the other way.

i know it looks suspisiously like a george 3 halfpenny but it doesnt say GEORGIUS 1V DEI around it. the letters go all the way around the coin without a gap

  sorry had to put up quote to get a box to write in anyway photos are not too good so tell me any letters you can see and which way they are running and what can you see on the reverse

Well done Daz, another one to add to the growing collection. It's a bit worn for a definite id but I think we are looking at an early Dupondius and at the top of my "maybe" list is Nero and then Claudius.
The AV is on hundreds and is the abbreviation AUG for Augustus. Have a look at this Dupondius of Nero;

thats allmost certainly it,the figure on the back is a perfect match.it did look a lot like brittania at first but there was far to much relief and to many letters to be a half pence.thanks for the ID ,its made my day
