Next step id join a Good local Detecting club  ;0)
As Alan pointed out Insurance in relatively cheap (FID is £8.50 for the 1st year £3.50 there after)

You  also need Insurance to attend any organized Detecting Rally Such as the ones the DW hold

all the best with your new hobby/pastime  ;0)

 Hi Phil,

 Thanks for the welcome, I will deffo be getting the insurance when I can afford it, I know its not a lot of cash
  but for me its hard to get it, as I have been out of work for 7 years while the mrs wanted her turn to work
  and things are tight with one income, I just managed to persuade the devil to buy my soul so I could afford my
  first machine, and then I still had to borrow £20 off god to pay in full  Embarrassed

  Anyways I will have to get it as I'll be on other peoples land at the end of the day, well when I get permission that is,
  but hay, its all new to me, the things I know now are all down to DW (you guys). So a big thank you all for that.

  Well I think I'll stop boring you all with my depresing life story  Cry, theres not enough rope us all Wink

just make sure you have the necessary insurance before venturing out onto other people's land. you will need the insurance to go on DW rallies

contact FID or NCM for further details.

Hi  Jay,  welcome to the best hobby in the world, just out of curiosity did you used to work for Ron Stockwell in the building trade?
Because I used to know a Jay that worked for him a good few years ago and he lived in Bridgend.
