 don't worry about those sniggelers, you'll have the last laugh in the end mate, lol,
 we have a r.a.r.e. club member from Caerphilly, there is a cardiff member from there too, but watch out for him if he starts talking you'll never get away to do your detecting lol.

 I grew up In Llanishen, as a kid i used to go up to the Caerphilly mountain a lot, one day i lost my pocket money, 3 old pennies and 2 half pennies.
 when my daughter had her detector for chistmas when she was 11,i thought i wonder if this machine would find them, so after taking them to school one day i went back there with the detector, and hey, it found them within a couple of minuites 32 years later lol
 that got me hooked then.

 i wonder if the romans had anything to do with the castle at travelers rest before the normans went there,  rumores have it there is a tunnel that goes down to caerphilly Castle,

I to love everything roman from a kid ive wanted to own Roman Items Detecting as enabled me to do that,

Ive heard of a few good finds being found on Caerphilly mountain (Caerphilly to Cardiff road)

a warm welcome cadzy i started with a garrett a lesser model than you got that was six years ago and like the guys been saying you are betteroff joining a club you get to go out with the culb on club digs i was a member of the gwent club for two years and made a lot of mates right the first thing i will say to you is go to the parks to get to know your detector they are full of coins thats were i started ok no roman but its a good place to start theres guys on the forum who havenot found a roman yet and they been doing it for many years some do some dont they will come mate and a bit of info on caerphilly for you just down the road in machen there is a roman villa and a roman mine or two anyway hope this helps you hope to see you soon good hunting regards (phil)
