Hello.
There is an old saying about the Royal Artillery Badge - of which in the RA the Gun is the colours of course.
It is that of the 5 - 'Nevers'
1. The grass under the gun that has never grown.
2. The wheel that has never turned.
3. The barrel that has never been rammed.
4. The gun that has never been fired.
5. I cannot say here, as ladies read it ,and so it would not be correct - clue -  it is in the Latin moto.

I think the head is of a boy scout, and the clover badge is a girl guides badge. The scouts and guides used to have jambarees, perhaps they were held in that field.

Well done both, I love that head and military badge.

The head is a strange one, its made of lead, and would fit lovely on a pencil Grin
You are right Dale they were to fit on the tops of pencils. I have had a jockey one and I know a few others who have had them. They aren't entirely identical and I wonder if they were supposed to represent real jockeys at a particular time.

Funny you should say that, back in the Victorian times and earlier they raced horses on the land! there was big prizes in guineas....... but I haven't found one there yet Smiley

Is there a date stamp on the back of your badge Dale ?

The Royal artillery have a Museum and there is are contact details.  Wonder if it might be worth sending them a pici and asking them about it.    Link below
