this is what we found today, in the same field again!!! faye was using the ace and i used my new toy!
on 2 days running i have dug 3 holes and have had 2 coins out of each.
the round thing in the middle appears to be part of a locket, faye found the little silver ring and the silver florin.thought i had better add that or she will have a go at me!!!

when the miner was off under he would hand in the tally and be given a lamp .....then at the end of the shift if the miner had not  returned to the service they would know because his tally would be hanging up jassy  Smiley

Well done Jassy - good to  see you getting to grips with the new machine.

Ignore the "quips" about its weight - it will knock spots off most of the detectors out there! A sound investment that will reward you at depths you couldn't previously reach - especially on pasture. I have the same machine and certainly wouldn't change it on a straight swap for a Deus or anything else.

Keep the finds posts coming - good to see someone is getting out there.

Hi Jassy,
I agree with Neil, you now have a top end machine that will now give you depth ( I bet you are finding your digging deeper  Shocked) There is a lot of hype about the Deus and Minelab  But you have a super machine there so just get out there and enjoy it  Wink

to be honest its not as heavy as i thought, i did get a bungee with it and wish i had got one sooner.im so pleased with it,i am digging deeper and wider holes ,but its worth it for what you find.it does detect deeper than the ace, without question.... but you cannot knock the ace as it always produces rings and silver (well for faye anyway!)next stop the beach with it....cant wait.!!

Well done on your finds the miners tally is just great and there are
some serious collectors out there...
As for the Explorer as stated earlier its a fantastic machine on both
land and wet sand beaches you cannot go wrong an inspired choice
of detector and yes it can get a tad heavy but i am 65 years old and have a
large SEF coil on mine 15 x 12" and can still detect all day with little or no
problems. the bungee harness is a good investment but the real secret
of this machine is getting the shaft at the correct length for your height and
detecting style coupled with a sensible detecting swing to suit you
when you get this right it has very good balance and not heavy at all.
After all in an ideal world you detect with search coil as low as possible
so let the ground take the weight of the machine.
I also would not change my machine for any other.
The very best of luck to you just make sure you have a good shovel lol as you are gonna be diggin a lot of deep holes... Cheesy H.H.......PaulB.
