Im pretty sure the older ones are cupro-nickel so the machines will pick them up and the newer type as Mike said has the steel core ;) Title: Re: xp dues modern 5p&10p no signal Post by: Chef Geoff on January 18, 2015, 11:15:29 PM Yes they've only had a steel core since 2012 with 1p and 2p since 1992 ;)

Mind you I still don't think anyone will be collecting them as they are miserable specimens of coinage - look at how cheap and uncollectable all that French aluminium coinage from just after the war is......
