Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero

Found these on a new permission in Wick this week. The landowner says a spitfire on a training flight went down in a marsh at the bottom of a steep field. They had a spitfire cockpit in their farm yard when he was a kid, and these parts came from the same marshy area.

They are stamped on the shaft with BRIDGEPORT 78A C3. I cant find anything online about aircraft parts but I know Bridgeport was a brake and engine cooling part maker in the 40's.

They look a bit like the parts around the upper end of the spitfire engine that deliver fuel or cooling fluid to the heads.

Any ideas anyone?

They may even be some obscure landrover parts, who knows?
