Johnny shortcross and i always believe in looking after the farmers. So that way you have always got somewhere to detect .We used to buy them bottles of whiskey on christmas, just as a little thankyou for letting us on through the yr .Istead we now have farm signs made up for them .More expensive than a bottle of whiskey, but the farmers couldnt be happier and we know our farms are safe and when we go there theres no humming or areing  we are on first name speaking turms its nice to have a good relationship .

Good idea that Steve, as you say it is worth keeping your Landowners happy.

We get them a bottle or a case of there favourite drink every Christmas but we also get them the ocassional drink throughout the year.

I'm sure this helps to build a more trusting relationship with them, I also give them finds on a regular basis as they are interested in what's under their crops!

I reckon it also helps to secure the site for you by keeping in regular contact.

Great Sign and a very good idea  Smiley

Looking after the landowners is certainly worthwhile.  Christmas time Mark and I brought one of our farmers a load of cigarettes and another one, slightly more elderly, a huge box of chocolates.  Both were very surprised (in a positive way) and it definitely went some way to establishing trust.
