Title: Re: This will keep me busy tonight Post by: Chef Geoff on January 30, 2012, 06:10:36 PM Nice going Alan, but I've got to say by the photo that thimble doesn't look like a beehive, too big.
Title: Re: This will keep me busy tonight Post by: handyman [Alan} on January 30, 2012, 06:16:21 PM hi geoff, according the detecting finds book 2, such a thimble is identified as beehive. I have assumed that this description is correct. ;D ;D ;D ;D
cheers Title: Re: This will keep me busy tonight Post by: Metalmickey on January 30, 2012, 06:43:41 PM Nice "Beehive" Alan ;)
Title: Re: This will keep me busy tonight Post by: Chef Geoff on January 30, 2012, 07:05:35 PM Don't get me wrong Alan, it comes from the same period and is "beehive" shaped on top but I think it would be referred to as a "Tonsured" thimble. A true beehive only just fits over the finger tip and probably half the finger nail.
