Hi Folks
Me and Ron had a multiple choice of fields to detect on Sunday, wheat stubble, oat stubble, barley stubble, borage and peas.  So we decided on the pea field as it flat and easy digging.  Loads of signals and continuous digging.  Lots of small lead fragments and a dozen musket balls, 10 George coins, a few other coins and then the good stuff.  I had a lovely bronze seal, what looks like a William 3rd silver and a Lizzy 1st silver.  Ron was doing well with the coins and similar with the lead everywhere.  We then decided on a change of fields and went to the field where Ron found his Gold Posy ring.  Not a lot to be found so we headed back to the jeep.  I had turned my machine off and was at the jeep having some refreshment, Ron was about 20yds away when he had a signal close to the surface.  Then after removing a small divot he let out a whoopee!!!!  As Cilla used to say ' Surprise, Surprise', He held in his hand the most perfect condition Roman silver coin I've seen since starting detecting a year ago.  What a beauty!!!  I'm sure Ron will explain in his post with pictures.  That really was the icing on the cake, and rounded off another fantastic day.  There is sure to be some strong competition for the find of the month from looking at all the fantastic finds that have been reported recently.  Happy Digging!!!   Tom.

Thanks for the comments everyone.  We are certainly fortunate to have such varied and interesting land on which to detect.  Our past involvement in countryside sports has meant we already have the contacts and the geographical knowledge of many areas throughout Wales and England.  We do travel a fair distance on occasions, but if we want to visit the good sites we have to be prepared to get up early and hit the road. (And stop for a nice breakfast on route of course).
Having so much land made available to us keeps us enthused and excited at the prospect of what will be our next find!!  Fantastic !!!   Happy Digging !!!  Tom.
