I have to attach some photos of finds I had whilst out with Ron my detecting partner.   We detected new ground on Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday as our hopes of stubble on our existing sites was dampened.  Ron found a gold posy ring which is lovely with the inscription reading 'Let Love Continue'. It weighs 6 grammes and no hallmarks.  I also found a ring that looks like it was gilded on the inside, there is some kind of stamp which I cannot read (ID if possible please), and I found a nice token from 1793.  I think it is a Pro Bono Farthing from South Wales.  Please tell me if I'm right with this!!  A couple of grots, buttons, bits of buckles and Georgies rounded up the weekend, except that is for the 'Horny Looking Devil' in the photos.  What's that all about? Anyone know?
That's all the trivial detail from last weekend, now on to the next!!!  Stubble next weekend!!  Happy Digging!!  Tom.

Interesting mix. The token is indeed a South Wales Farthing 'Pro Bono Publico' token.

The Dalton and Hamer catalogue of 18th century tokens states:

'There is no information as to who were the issuers of the tokens of North and South Wales, although several tons were struck; probably they were sold to any who wished to have tokens to pay, but for the return of which they would not be responsible'.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.  Great info Doc, the token is a first for me.  I 'm from South Wales and found the token and other finds on a farm just over the border in Herefordshire.
Me and Ron are looking forward to getting on one of our medieval sites next weekend where there should be wheat stubble and a flattened pea field.  Fingers crossed.  Happy Digging Everyone!!!   Tom.
