Title: Whats your opinion on the best BEACH detecting machine on the market?
Post by: Neil on June 25, 2010, 07:43:35 PM
Evening lads and lasses. I already own a few Minelabs - Muskateer. X-Terra3 and Explorer II, but I want to add to my arsenal with a quality beach detecting machine.

I rarely do the beaches, but generally have gold results when I do including 5 gold rings and numerous milled silver to date. I want to try and get to the beaches more during the "crop season" - any ideas on what you would recommend?

Not looking for an underwater machine, (although I am PADI qualified}, just a decent wet sand machine.

Cheers
Neil

Neil there are not many that will beat the Explorer, but without going down the PI route then I think the king of the beaches for the last 19 years has got  to be the Minelab Sovereign, when fitted with a W O T coil or a 12x15 SEF then there is nothing that with touch them on the sand.

I'm sure you'll be fine with your Explorer on the beach Neil. Not sure if there would be much point getting a Sov as well - is it really better than the Explorer on the beach?

I have used both the Sov. Elite and the Explorer II with the SEF Coils on wet sand beaches..

Both machines are excellent and in skilled hands both can do the job.

Both machines are equal in depth but the elite that i used just has the edge on

the explorer in the worst black sand conditions, both are quite heavy machines.

I myself prefer the Explorer because it has more options to programme it for

the different types of beaches that you will come across.

The only other thing i will add is you can pick up some early sovereign models

for very good prices and they will do the biz.

And as stated earlier P.I. Machines do have extra depth but you lose out

having to dig most everything...

Regards and hope you have a blast.....PaulB. 8)

As you say Paul the weight is an issue but that is the beauty of the Sov, it can be hip mounted.

i think minelab are the best about,i have used the explorer 11 but find the sovereign XS2a much much better by far,may be i am not using the right program in the explorer, the XS2a is a bit heavy but outstanding on the beach.viv
