Title: Fisher F5
Post by: charlieboy on October 09, 2011, 01:59:17 PM
Hi All

I currently own a Garrett Ace 250 but planning on an upgrade in the new year. I am more than happy with the performance of the Garrett in the context of 'in land' detecting but would like something that performs better on wet sand (although I have had some success with the Garrett in this environment).

I am considering the Fisher F5, as this is within my price range and have read claims that it is effective on wet sand. Has anyone had any experince with this detector? Or could somene suggest another make/model within a similar price range?

Hope you can help
Cheers

Charlie

The F5 is a competant machine on the sand if you are just looking for "recently" lost modern coinage which is fine for some one who doesn't care about deeper older items.  ;)

Have a look at the minelab x-terra 750 a super machine on the beach or land,  ;) in my eyes far better than the fisher  ;)

There isn`t a "X-Terra 750" it`s a 705 !  ;)

Thanks for the advice guys. Clearly I need to consider my options very carefully before making a decision.  ??? It's a shame the XTerra is a couple of hundred pounds more than the Fisher - that would make life so much easier. Oh well, back to the drawing board.  :D

Thanks again
Charlie

Cheers Napoleon. Ye considered a second hand machine but have just noticed that some retailers offer interest free payment schemes, so looks like I might get a Minelab after all  ;D. The 3 year warranty is also a good selling point.

Just got to convince my better half now  ;D

Cheers

Hi Charlie, If the machine is for beaches then the Minelab sovereign (possibly the Explorer/Etrac) is the only machine to consider, period.
Yes there are loads that are "effective" but they are all running at half power and efficiency.
The Sovereign, regardless of model and age, is the best VLF machine on the beach, wet and dry, ever made.
