Title: A couple of hours with the Safari+Nel Snake combo
Post by: Resurgam on November 07, 2015, 07:47:01 PM
Finely got the chance to try out the Nel Snake coil on the beach at Talacre. Having run some in-air tests using typical targets from my regular beach, I decided to set the Safari up on all metals cross-saved to coin mode and cancelled out -10 to 0 and +40.

Of course, trying to beach detect with such a small coil would be like trying to paint the Eiffel tower with a half inch paint brush. My plan was to detect only a couple of small areas that I knew to be heavily infested with WWII projectiles and scrap. Because of the nature of the areas where I was going to swing this little critter, I knew that my targets would not be very deep.

After about five hours of non-stop gentle swinging, I had managed £1.20p  in decimal coinage and One 1906 penny. Interestingly, the penny came out of some muddy black sand looking as though it had been washed in hydrochloric acid. Added to the finds bag were about twenty-five large pieces of copper jackets from 50 cal armour-piercing projectiles.

With a wee bit more practice, I reckon this little coil will prove it's weight in "copper" ; if not gold.  ;)

Well done Chris.  I took the Safari & sharphooter a few times and although it doesn't cover much ground what it does cover it does well. I found it had good depth and separation and, of course, it wasn't too heavy.
In theory there should be some goodies mixed in with all that scrap.  Hope you find some, you deserve  something for your persistance and patience.
