Not sure if anyone caught this program from this morning, it's from the Radio 4 "In living memory" series.
This week it's retelling the story of the finding of the Theftford Hoard and it's murky circumstances. Anyone newish to the hobby should remember that this was during the hight of the S.T.O.P campaign by the Heritage lobby in the late 70's. From a wow factor it soon turned into one of our worst "own goals" ever and at a time we really didn't need it Wink

Prob. has to be said that there but for the grace of God. Makes you wonder what you would do in the same situation.
Wasn't there a case some time ago when the local Coincil took a fella to court. Look what that cost him.

wow.weldone arther, what they fail to consider is if he had not found this lot in the first place no one else could see it in the museam and they would not have any info on the site anyway.
i had a girlfriend who lived about half a mile away from that industrial estate and i remember her mentioning this story

She was not a happy bunny though, the museum lady!
