Well finally after a few weeks off with a bad shoulder and a few more failed trips due to adverse weather I finally got a day out detecting yesterday (Thursday). My first proper day out in 2012 and armed with the new SEF coils I was keen to see how I would get on. The plan was a new farm five minutes from home but on arrival found the farmer his wife and his brother attempting to get cows of the roads as someone had left the gate open. Decided to move to another farm until times were a little happier and have only two choices due to crop and animals so went back to the Waltonbasin only 10 minutes away.
Had a reasonable day and found plenty but was well happy with the buckle as I am doing a display at home. Coin wise plenty of coppers and just one Liz 2 fivepence of the shiny stuff. Enjoyed the day and cant wait til Sunday with another full day planned at Ludlow.

My buttons and a Blackpool Tower Brooch/badge. With mud on the badge caused a bit of a stir as I thought it may have been a bit older.

The Buckle according to Whitehead is dated 1600-1700AD and I think was my find of the day.

Flip I never found that many copper coins in the whole of 2011.
I only seem to find hammered coins, roman and the odd georgian coin.
Nice william and mary half penny
