Title: Filling up the finds cabinet
Post by: avalon on June 02, 2013, 03:22:19 PM
Found some nice bits today, may stick a few bits on ebay and see what they make. I think the shotgun cartridges are quite rare, don't find many of those!

Great finds Steve, you should go on the hoard hunters and show them what real metal detecting is all about  ;D

I would have to cover my T2 in Minelab stickers, just so they would pay me loads of money!  ;D

Been detecting today with my mate who owns the farm next to Highgrove, Apparently Charles often cuts across his land for a walk in the evening, so I can't wait to catch him so I yell ''get off my land'' , And just as I pulled out onto the road today, next to his driveway, out he tootles in his soft top Aston Martin with the roof down. His driver kept looking at me in his mirror, probably saw me banging the steering wheel, as he was only going 30mph in a 40 zone!, I hate OAP's on the road.  ;D

As Charlie boy owns a hell of a lot of farms in this neck of the woods and seems to be buying up the rest of the county bit by bit, detecting permission can be hard to find in certain areas, be sure to ask him for some permission for me the nest time you see him !

The Government should tax anyone with over 20,000 acres, £50 per acre over that figure, that will stop them grabbing land!

Hey watch it you young whipper snapper. We're not all old fogies on the road. >:(

Do agree some should have their licences taken off them, they're a liability. (Strange how young they all look)  :o ::) ;D

No , I couldn't part with them, although I should really  get them recorded at some stage. There is a chap who comes around the area each day in a large lorry  and he collects our rare metal finds. I usually know when he's coming as he plays this bloody annoying noise through a loud speaker on top of his lorry, but loads of people give him things to take away. Not quite sure whether he brings the objects back, bit like the museums.

I was thinking the other day that if I ever decided to found a party, then something like that would be in the manifesto - I think in Ireland in 1923 they passed a law saying that you couldn't own more than 1000acres - the only problem is that whenever someone comes up with something sensible, there are always unforseen problems and the people it was designed to target find ways around it. For instance I was quite surprised to find that woodland is exempt from death duties.....
