On my very first day out on a local beach, I had loads of beeps etc from my detector ,I almost wet myself.
only to remember after the false results had been investigated ,i'd had on a pair of trainers that had metal toecaps in them.
Step-beep-Step-beep-Step-beep-Step-beep.
Wont be doing that again...

lol done the same when i first bought a detector ,ditched my steel toe caps for some wellys.
but i also once spent a good half hour chasing disapearing signals only to find a drawing pin in the bottom of my welly

wait until you forget to turn your headphones on and blissfully detect in
total silence for half a field, wondering why theres not many signals there.
Or as I have done on my explorer many times forget to switch from
pinpoint back to detect.

lol Confessions of a metal detector.
Mine was metal eyelets on the sleeves of my storm jacket. When passing the soil over the coil (before the days of my probe) a sweet note had me rummaging through the spoils many times. Thank you Garrett my nails are always clean and soft now lol

For all the same reasons I always take off my watch before detecting. However, I have sometimes forgotten and after trying to locate the find by passing the soil under the coil countless times I have realised my mistake. I would keep getting signals with each handful but of course most of the time it would be my watch. Many curses.

Credit to the sensitivity of my Safari I often get caught out when swinging too wide to the left. I've ended going round in circles many times and wondering why the signals keep moving. Then I cottoned on to the cause......my finds bag, full of iron as usual. I wear it on a belt and as I'm stooping it slips round till it's right over the top of my left swing.
Great being knee high to a grass hopper.

I cannot get my wedding ring off, it is now a part of me and have been pinpointing clumps to find out there isn't anything in them - Doh, also done the steel toecap thing but didn't have too much of a problem with them.

Bought a new pair of walking boots spent hours getting signals which I could not locate again then noticed that going up slope all was ok, going down slope detector was closer to eyelets,

I can't wear boots with metal eyelets on. It all depends on your swing and stride. On my left swing the coil always passes very close to my foot and I always pick up the eyelets.

I'm ok on the flat beleve in the low and slow style. Another self inflicted problem, with a leg pocket full of junk for some reason started to switch probe on too close to my leg, then had to search in low sensitivity mode only did it now and again took ages to figure out what I had been doing.
