Make sure you dip it in talcum powder first or any corrosion could get pulled off by the Blutac/wax Wink

Thanks Geoff. The body of the seal is copper alloy but the seal itself is a dark yellowy brown glass or stone (opaque) so blue tac should not be a problem.

You can also get small blocks of proper sealing wax. These come in all colour variants. They should be available from any decent craft shop. If you have a Hobbycraft  store near you they definitely sell them. I think The Range sell them as well.

FIMO modelling compound is the stuff, small ball, work it til soft, roll it a little with a glass for smooth surface, talc very lightly with finger tip and press carefully. Takes a super impression, bake gently and sets  like hard plastic. Use a little at a time, keep sealed, lasts years, lots of colours.

Couple of cracking seals there Jelida - I particularly like the first one - great script and images.

Quality finds and post

We still use a wax seal for Christmas Cards at home - you can buy the wax via this link to ebay:

Nothing to do with me I hasten to add.

Cheers

Thank's for all the advice boys and girls. I tried the seal with some blue tac this morning  and it portrays a Georgian man looking left. I will try to get some pics this weekend if my official photographer is playing out!
