Post by: diggaduff on April 23, 2014, 05:54:39 PM
Thought I would ask members what there oldest find is as I have seen some cracking finds on this site, mine is a early Bronze Age copper flat axe head 2400bc-2200bc not as nice as some axe heads I've seen on here but I'll keep looking :)

I found a similar age item in the field next door so I am assuming the ID below is correct?

"A cast copper-alloy moustache-shaped object, believed to be a scabbard chape of a type first made circa 1000 BC. There is a deep rectangular recess on the inside, possibly created to house the tip of a blade without causing damage."

The oldest thing I've found is this flint scapper.

It's 150,0001years 14weeks and 3days old.

I can age it so accurately because whan I found it the FLO told me it was 150,000 years old,

and I've had it for 1year 14 weeks and 3 days. ;D ;Dhttp://

There in the garden now, but I have several fields covered in thousands of them, on top of a hill in the Cotswolds. Guess it used to be at the bottom of the sea at some time, probably 250 million years ago + 2 days  ;D
