Out with Ray today on a new field of his in Barry. All I can say is it was a disaster for me from the word go. I forgot my Coffee, Forgot my water and forgot my Battery  Shocked

Remembering Proconsul lived a short way away I quickly phoned him and he came to the rescue by loaning me his explorer battery. By the time I got back to the field a despondent and already very tired looking Roman Ray came trudging across the field towards me. The field was heavy ploughed and full of foil.

Change of plan and we headed off to one of my farms that had proven in the hammered stakes time and again.... Sadly it was not to be. We gave it our best shot and the last count was nearly 40 buttons between us, double that in pieces of white lead, Ray had a shilling and a few more coins. I managed to get a speccy buckle one or two coins and my first ever Apostle spoon

Peter any chance of telling me which Apostle and the age of spoon. Also why it says silver on the reverse when its plainly not.

Well just set sail on the good ship Ulysses (who the hell thought that would be a good name for a ferry? He took 15 years to get home from Troy Cheesy) Spoon is Sheffield plate, you can put gold on it as long as it's not hallmarked.
1930-40's I would say.
Well hard luck both on not finding any hammies Roll Eyes honest I mean it Lips sealed
I will be out tectin the fields of Monaghan tomorrow so hopefully I'll have some to show when I get back Saturday....That ferry will probably be called the Titanic  Cheesy

Hey I found a spoon exactly the same as that last month, at first I thought it was Jesus or some Monk at the tip of the spoon, but mine was all badly bent up Sad didn't think it was all that old either
