Cheers Alan, I found those two bits about 7ft apart, so i was quite lucky there. I was hoping they'd have been a bit older, But its the first ones i've found so i cant moan Smiley

Thanks Stu,  sugar tongs came to mind first, then i looked and noticed there wasn't a bowel or flat end in them  to grip the sugar  so i went for crackers,,  but even  a lot of them either got a flat end or bowel shape on them   gets confusing hey,

Hi karl i found one myself if u look on the inside bottom handle there be a number which mine is stamped 3 so im asumming there are different sizes also i have a picture in a mag which states that its a nut cracker and its victorian Cheesy I confused cos if it was a sugar nippers u would have to use both hands Huh

Hi, I've had a good look, i cant find any numbers, but I've found an almost identical pair, albeit in silver, they were indeed nutcrackers.?

I found these last year in Peterston-Super-Ely. One of the DW lads (sorry, I forget who) told me they were sugar crackers. They did seem a bit small for nutcrackers. Nice find though, well done.

Mick,  they are usually made of Brass.
now this is the type i usually Know as nutrackers crashland,  late 1800s

Hi Mick, They appear to be made of Brass or Bronze, there either cast or forged.
Its a shame there broken as i think they were in one piece when they were lost, it looks like the plough has had them.

The sutt put a pair of these on a few mths ago
as nutcrackers and was told by hedgehog that
they were sugar nippers people used them as
nutcrackers thats why you get so many broken
