I was just wondering if any of you detect on "Ridge and Furrow"?

I have quite a bit of land like this but as yet I've never really found much on it!

I presume that any finds are likely to be quite deep but do you think they will be in the High or Low bits?

I don't think the land has been ploughed for a very long time..

The bigger ridge and furrow on some sites are protected even sheduled! I never seem to have much luck on them and you get seasick after a while  Grin

Have recently been in a ridge and furrow field and found nothing at all. Have spoke to people in the past about it as well and a common theme rises. Most people find nothing.

This is a Ridge and Furrow field system. They can be found all over the Uk and date from around the 1200,s to as late as the late 1800,s in parts of Herefordshire.

the best finds come from the ones that only show slight remains on ridge and furrow as they have been ploughed out so to speal .also big mistake made by many they aren't on ridge and furrow but old orchards that were repl;anted in victorian or later.
a little show is better !!!!!
there again i would rather see pea gravel 4 inches down on a medi or roman site....
