The 250 is a superb starter machine & they come up regular on Ebay for the sort of money your mate has to spend ;;)

If he gets the bug I believe he would quickly out grow it (I had one and was looking for an upgrade within 3 months - but that just be me I am a bit mad an impulsive like that with new toys ;D ) But for that kind of money, and starting out I think it may well suit. Will be looking for £190 if your interested. only 6 months old or so.

With coil cover, Control box cover, 2 sets of unused garrett headphones, with instrucion manual and DVD. open to reasonable offers. It cost me £160 for the lot.
