Bit heavy that Rob, I knew that ships were lured onto rocks but I didn't realise the wreckers murdered the surviving crew and passengers.  Sad

A Good find that Rob,  thanks for posting, sickening & barabaric sn't it,

i did hear that they murdered the crew ect,.    around the corner at merther mawr. ohh whats the beach there,  Rob went there recently  doh, they used to lure boose ships in and pinch all the barrels and up into the dunes with them,

the land lord of the pub on the left , half way down the road to there used to take in travelers, get them drunk, show them to their rooms and murder them to rob them,  then bury their corpses out the back,

i'd be carefull going down there from now on Rob,  they don't sound like nice sorts down there, lol.

Hi,    we have two stories here, Dunraven bay is by Southendown and the Cliff sticks out into the sea, the point is called Twyn yr Witch or something very similare, many ships have been wrecked here as the other gent stated, and you can imagine the stuff that is hidden under the sand.
But the pub at Merther Mawr is a different story, they used to lure travellers in and murder them, then take all their belongings this was all proved true when a few years back they found a number of bodies buried in the woods behind the site where the pub once stood, there is no building there now but as you go over the humpback bridge going from Bridgend, there is a track on the right a bit overgrown, this is where the pub used to be.
Southendown beach is well worth a look when the sand is low.
