Minelab safari , explorer se pro and etrac and beach depth question

i will get a good p.i one day but only a top of the range one.my cousin hits rings at crazy depths with his deepstar 3.
 the cheaper ones dont do the job.

i use a Safari with detech ultimate coil on beach goes deep and is very stable and good pin pointing , both etrac and safari use same fbs so should be no real difference in depth. I beleave the safari is a etrac without all the bell and whistles. I love using the safari and would not upgrade to a etrac even for free as i just enjoy the simplicity of the safari

if it aint broke dont fix it,to be honest if i had bought a sov before my etrac i would'nt have bought my etrac but that said my etrac has made me a lot of cash in gold lol

Chantal, Personally I'd get another Safari. Stick with what you know. You seem to have done as well with it as any of the others with bigger, heavier, more sophisticated and expensive machines.

yes etracs are heavy val,if your happy with a safari why change?maybe just upgrade the coil

Yep only by about 2 ounces but if you look inside they are identical but the Safari uses the SE shell

i had a explorer xs with a 10x12 sef, and it was a very deep machine, dry and wet sand, loved silver.

Exactly Val most people who find them heavy use them with the arm cup in the wrong place or have the shaft too long so you have probably got it set up just right for you but I still think we should change your name to xena warrior princess

Hi , thanks for all the advice
after reading the posts i think i will get another safari to replace the one my son has pinched but i think i will look into the ultimate coils (time to google 11'' pro coil v ultimate coil)
looks like ill be paying another £500 - £650 for one on fleabay again soon
in the meantime ill ''borrow back'' my old one when my sons in school or if the weather isnt great (kids are such wimps).
I bought my son one of those teknetik eurotek pro detectors but after using the safari it didnt impress him ,in hindsight you should never spoil a kid with a minelab as first detector to try out it gives them expensive tastes lol
