I am looking to purchase calling cards that I can leave with farmers when seeking new permissions. I know the well known one Vistaprint, but is there a better supplier that has metal detecting templates to choose from? I have only come across one and the templates were Americanised. To save me time trawling through them all can anyone recommend who to use? Thanks Alan.

I'd be interested to know if you come across any.

I've been thinking for a while about cards - I don't get the courage to ask new farmers that often and I figure that if I have a card at least I can leave it with the farmer even if he says no quite firmly. You never know.

I will let you know if I come across anything thing that I decide to use Probono. From the response I guess not a lot of people out there are using them. Anything is better than scribbling your number on a piece of paper on the day. You can include your e-mail address as well. You can tell them to pass it on to someone else who may be interested if they decide no. I will probably have an in depth search later in the week. Alan.

Vistaprint ones are good, but I think you get a fair bit of spam from them, so dont use your main email address...

We used these guys for our club banner and they are cheap for that, do good calling cards, but delivery may push the price up :

I made some up myself with just the basics. Printed them off on some pink card, so many to a page, and then cut them up. Shouldn't be hard to pick up a pic or character to add to the info.

Only ever used a couple of them though.

With a bit of imagination, you can produce some acceptable cards your self. When I first started visiting Talacre I produced some cards and later produced some metal detecting cards for leaving with people. I had laminated the cards before cutting and got nine cards from a sheet of A4.

My biggest problem was that the laminations started to peel at the corners when the cards were kept in the pocket for any length of time. I should have invested in one of those metal card carrying cases.

Nice, I like that.   The cars not the problem, it's getting out there and facing the Farmer that daunts me. Undecided

I'm lucky I grow up on a farm so I know a lot of farmers and people in young farmers groups. Just toady I gave a bunch of cards to a pall who was doing a ploughing competition in hereford, dont know if anything will come from it but who knows. I know what you mean tho asking a farmer can be nerveracking stuff but at least find something to break the ice. Maybe a complement about how beautiful the area is. Then.. Pass over the card. Wink ha ha.
