just a question guys, what is the opinion of the best kind of gloves when out metal detecting?  is neoprene best or do they wear too quickly.  I had thought of the cheaper  rubber backed material ones, but I need a fairly good fit as I dont really want to be taking the damn things off every 5 minutes when I need to adjust the detector Huh

Hi mate ive started wearing surgical gloves being a part-time tattooist ive stacks off them but also carry cotton with rubber grips on finger tip ones for when my hands get abit cold plus these gloves are designed to use while on your touch screen mobile phones etc so dont have to keep taking gloves off when taking clod shot pics etc Smiley

cheers both, I had looked on fleabay and seen the rubber backed type (£10 for 10 pairs).  I can get the surgical gloves but they never seem to stand up to any kind of hard wear, I usually end up with two or three fingers poking out of them Cheesy

I find 2mm neoprene gloves offer a good combination of warmth and feel.

They last a few months of use about 3 times week before wearing out.

I buy them from this site, a few pairs at a time.

http://www.glovesnstuff.com/Neoprene-Wet-Work-Gloves-2mm_AIT0U.aspx

The sealskins are good but not the feel through the material as with 2mm neoprene.

Thanks Bob. Of course I always have to try and find some a bit cheaper and take 2 days making up my mind. Roll Eyes

Well I did find them a bit cheaper if anyones interested. They came this morning complete with a 1 pint Mug and a huge catalogue. I was a bit missed off with £3.99 postage but not too many retailers sell them.  I am very impressed and they arrived in 48 hours.

Have a look on EBay   Item No.350632950248  OR  No Fear 2mm Neoprene Gloves

Sold by SportsDirect. £4.00 plus postage.  My pici attached,I removed the wrist strap.

As Hoover says i also have started wearing surgical gloves, the thicker ones and top tip is wear two pairs, reduces the chance of splitting etc any thicker gloves really annoy me especially when trying to give an item a quick rub !!!!!! Grin

Well, I've now used these gloves on the beach in the cold and can honestly say they are great. The only down-side to them is you have to take one off to change settings on detector.
Small enough price to pay for having warm, dry hands 'specially when you've got poor circulation. Wink
