Title: First Good Deed of 2015
Post by: 150aceboy on January 04, 2015, 08:31:53 PM
The Love Doc and myself, had our first dig of 2015 today.

We started early and expectations were running high, as this was the first time in months that we were able to detect a field that had been quite productive in the past.

The first hour we hardly had a beep lol, but after a cup of coffee, things started to change a little. Doc pulled up three nice buckles in a row, a headless lead soldier, and a halfpenny. I was just finding buttons, worn georgian, and an old penny  >:(

Another hour passed, again without a beep, so we decided to go on another permission. Straight away Doc found another halfpenny, and I found a well earned Sixpence.

Whilst having a break, we were talking to the landowner, who reminded me, that his neighbour wanted us to try and find a gold ring, that had been lost about 5 year ago in her garden, so off we went....

We knocked on the cottage door, and an old lady answered very sheepishly, must have been the full cammo gear  ;D ;D.

A quick explanation of what we were there for and all was fine. She explained that she had lost the ring somewhere in the lawn, near the washing line.

So off we went, Doc on his Safari and me on the trowel, first signal ( Tin Foil ), second signal ( Bit of copper ), third signal ================ ( GOLD RING )  ;D ;D

We presented the ring to the old lady, who was highly delighted, turned out that her parents bought the signet ring for her, when she was a young lady.

So thats our first good deed for 2015

Paul  ;)

Well done on finding the ring, today my dad and I were asked to look for a lost sign post which was important to the footpath it stood next to. But unfortunately, we didn't find it >:(

Hopefully its the first of many Ace  ;) and thanks all for the " well dones" . It was awesome being able to return the ring after being lost for so long and seeing how happy she was really was just the icing on the cake. Here are the buckles and headless lead soldier which also turned up Sunday.

Thanks all for your replies, I can tell you that both Doc and myself felt proud , handing the ring back to the lady.
Forgot to mention that this was Docs first ever GOLD find since he started detecting, he's on a high, would be an understatement  :)
Only thing is, that after such a long hunt yesterday, I'm in about the same shape as Docs soldier  ;D ;D
Worth the pain though ;)

Always nice to hear of something precious being returned, especially to an elderly lady.  You know what they say, 'little things mean a lot'  and they do.

Well done on finding it.

Val
