Had an unusual day this week as I found a coin from the reign of George I, II, III. I can count the amount of George I coppers I have found on one hand so to find a Woods George I Irish halfpenny in a decent condition was a bonus. The token is interesting; it’s a Risca union Copper Company penny (1811). It has an image of a Blake-like ‘dark satanic mill’ on it. Just as interesting to find as hammereds or Romans in my opinion.  Enjoy.  Cool

Well done Jaydogg - a cracking selection of coinage there - as we always say love the early coppers!

Never heard of a Woods George Ist before - great bit of research.

The tokens a beaut as well - as I said to you yesterday they can be pretty collectable.

Nice post

Nice to see some coppers in good condition, you must be well stoked.  Makes a change from finding hammereds and Roman I suppose  Wink

Nice going JD, nice when you can read what you've got. I found a Woods Hibernia 1723 a couple of weeks ago and that was in nice condition too, I wonder if it has a different alloy to the normal coins.
I've got to ask though;
I can count the amount of George I coppers I have found on one hand
Where have you been detecting....on the Moon? Grin
