Yes very interesting. A serious subject but I couldn't help finding this little snippet funny. Two rabbits killed. Casualties of war lol

Two horses were injured and two rabbits killed.

yep -- just goes to show the level of detailed recording that went on.

Hi Neil,

Your right yours is the RAF, I first thought it was the Luftwaffe shame really it would of been great if it was!! I was once mad on the Luftwaffe, watching documentaries all the time.

Bloomin eck, what did they have against Swansea. The Germans, not the rabbits!

as most of the channel ports were high risk, a lot of convoys had to come into the lesser riskier areas of the bristol channel, the mersey and the scottish ports. The Bristol channel was within reach of the bombers once France had capitulated. Swansea was also a secondary target for bombers who failed to reach their merseyside targets

You are very welcome. My mum still tells me about her school being bombed in 1940 [and its referred to in the earlier link], she also refers to her time spent with family in the gower and rumours of uboats using the freshwater river at port eynon, to refresh their supplies.

We all know about the war but it is still fascinating to read these first hand accounts.

My Gran used to tell me that ,when the bombs were dropped on Swansea, She could see the
flames all the way up on the Black Mountains, where she was living.
