Hi Sandra, Pendine is one of my beaches. One of the Guys found a cracking Diamond ring on Pembrey last year. Shocked

Don't forget your Beach Permits. Just go to Crown Estates through the Forum, enter your details and bingo. They are free.
Dig everything to start but dont dig in the Sand dunes, thery're protected.
Best of luck.

welcome Sandra.
.

The Ace 250 is an excellent detector for the money you'll really enjoy using them as  they are extraordinarily light. They are a real joy to use for hours on end without fatigue.

Look forward to hearing how you get on

Thanks Rob, nfl and Deadlock Smiley

Thanks Val, I have now got my permit, cant print it out though, my printer died a long time ago but I have the email on my mobile phone, hope that will be ok, didn't know about the sand dunes being protected, shall keep off of them.

Bixhoni, what setting do you recommend for dry sand?

I hope so Peanut  Smiley it was easy to put together and feels nice and light, turned it on in the lounge and couldn't work out why it wouldn't stop buzzing Huh Till I realised it was the screws in the wooden flooring Cheesy coz I can't see them, I forget they are under the floor.

Welcome Sandra and co hope you enjoy the club. I started off in beach detecting in 1972 and one thing we were always told to search were areas where dark sand was visible because it indicated areas of mineralisation etc. Another point to bear in mind is search closer to the edge of the sand where it meets the water or mud shows. Anything that is in the mud will be well preserved as the atmosphere has had no effect on it. I have spent many happy hours searching the mud along the river Teign at Teignmouth Devon. Another point worth a try is stand back from the waters edge and watch the waves roll over the sand, as the water recedes it will show tell-tale signs of any coins that have recently been lost, usually little circular mounds, unmistakeable. Good luck
