 Smiley Hello everyone
Thought I would sign up here and try to learn a few things, say hello to you all and hopefully get to know you and pick your brains from time to time.

My husband and I have decided to get a hobby together and start Metal dectecting, we haven't bought any yet, doing a lot of searching, which to buy etc, we will be getting one each.

Right, off to have a nose around your forum, try and see what you recommend for beginners etc  Smiley

Welcome Sandra to Wales's National Metal Detecting forum. I hope you enjoy having a look around - there is a wealth of information on here. If you cannot find what you're looking for just ask.

Regards Rob.

Welcome to DW Sandra and Co. Ladies allways welcome. Any questions just ask. There's always someone will give you the benefit.

There's an on-going thread about detectors for beginers, you might find that useful.

Thanks for the welcomes Smiley

Just been reading the thread you mentioned Val, then had a look on ebay, there are so many models of each type, its quite confusing Huh

I see a lot of people are liking the Ace 250, they are quite a resonable price, considering we have to buy two lol

I know there are several members that use the  Ace 250 and swear by them. Never tried one myself, I've got a Whites M6, but they do seem to be a good starter machine and I understand they're good on fields and beach.
Be popular ones to sell on when or if you want to up-grade.

Welcome to the site both. Garrett is a good machine but limited on wet sand. So if you intend doing lots of beach work you might want to re-consider the Ace 250.
There's lots of people with a great deal more experience than myself to advise if you need help.
'Chef' is one of the more technically minded people who has a wealth of knowledge on many machines. (anorak in other words) Grin
I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

Cheers

Smiley thanks once again for the welcomes

I just bought us each the Ace 250, after lots of reading it seems (lol) that they will be good for us to see if we enjoy our new hobby without breaking the bank Smiley

Thats nice to hear Bigxhoni, I may get on your nerves now, asking questions  Smiley

Yes ysbytymike, I had read that  Sad but nevermind, at this stage we will take the good with the bad, all the researching the last week has done me ed in a bit  Cheesy and wanted to make a start.

We live near Ammanford, is Pembrey OK to go (on the dry bits Wink) I have read that most beaches are ok but not seen Pembrey come up?

Yo. Only over the hill from you in Ystradgynlais. Pembrey as far as I've heard is OK provided you stay on the normal public beach. Heard other people
talking about detecting there with no problems.
