Realise I am probably clutching at straws here, but has anyone got any ideas on this?

Not even sure if its Roman, I can make out a right facing bust with some lettering on one side, but the other side is totally shot. Not sure what its made of either, feels light for its size and fairly thick with a greyish cast, could it be billon??

Diameter as near as I can estimate approx 25mm, 2mm thick.

It's a bit like the rubbish pennies we make these days but a little bit better back then. Problem with tin is it don't half corode.
it is like a datsun car. only had one tin coin myself and that was far worse than yours.
william 3rd had a few years of tin 1691-4 yours is a James as everyone pointed out.
