Found this last weekend when out with my granddaughter. Any idea what it is please? Using a Garret 250 Ace, it was about 8 inches down and on edge so only about 5 mm thickness showing. It is approx 27cm long x 7cm at the widest point and approx 5mm thick. The cut out is 8cm long. It weighs 992g (2lb 3oz) and appears to be iron. It isn't completely flat but has a slight twist in it. Any help would be appreciated especially after all the digging it took through the pebbles :) I thought it may be from some farm machine but there aren't any fixing holes. There are dozens of Ship wrecks around our coast and bits get washed up all the time. Unfortunately most of us have no idea what they are.
We just put them down 'thingies' are pass on to the next. I've found all sorts on my local beaches. Anything from man hole covers to garden rakes and anything in between. Iron is best left un-dug. Thanks for the reply, I'll put it with all the other unidentified rubbish I've collected. to start digging every signal. As a suggestion, stick to the pre-set programme's, stay OFF the all metal pre-set. Get into COIN preset and listen to the tones,set up a few different metal types in your garden or on your lawn,go over them,time after time after time,and you will be subtle tone differences,his waybit will save you digging a load of rubbish. The ACE 250 is a very good machine,and is very underestimated. Just to add,I found my very first hammered coin with h that detector !! Thanks for the suggestion about the settings. I have been leaving it on All Metal and digging everything. I must admit nearly all of what I've found is unidentifiable rubbish apart from a nice horse shoe! I need to spend some time trying to determine the different tones. Steve |
