Title: Yesterdays Finds
Post by: celticspikey on July 23, 2015, 03:19:45 PM
From the field the quern stone came from, couple of grots, the rest has portraits, the Romulus and Remus is in very nice condition and pleased it has survived. Its a real shame the bracelet is broken as it has a lovely design.

It does look a bit Celtic Val/ but I think I will stick with roman, I'm sure some one will comment on a positive ID and I may stand corrected ;) ;) ;)

Well one of your grots is a roman silver(ish) ant of Gallienus - I do like the left facing busts - Lyons mint usually around the 257AD mark :)

The bracelet reminds me of the late crossbow fibula - indeed it almost looks like the bent shank of one - but artefacts aren't really my area :)

To be fair Roland the picture I took only emphasises the pattern, had I have took it at a different angle it would be clearer that it's a bracelet , it's probably a 1/3 rd of a complete one. ;)
